Looking for things to do this Summer in Watertown? The NYS Zoo at Thompson Park is excited to offer our Zoofari Summer Camp for kids ages 6-12. Each day, we'll explore the zoo and get to know more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Adaptations - July 9 to July 13
Have you ever wondered what it takes to care for the animals we have here on grounds? This week we will look at diets, enrichments, and the training that are necessary for some of the animals we have on exhibit and within our education collection.
Animal Heroes - July 16 to July 20
Did you know that almost 1/3 of the food on our table requires the handy work of pollinators. This week we will be learning about the different types of pollinators and why it is so important to protect these species.
Creepy Crawlers - July 23 to July 27
Experiments are the name of the game this week at camp. We will be performing experiments to figure out why animals are adapted to different environments, how to make the best slime out of household goods and everything in between.
Birds - July 30 to Aug 3
The focus for this week is about how all living things play an equally important part in the overall ecosystem of habitats. Whether it’s a mushroom, a mosquito, a rabbit, or a fox each has an important role in maintaining the balance in the Web of Life.
Mammals - Aug 6 to Aug 10
If you put your goggles on and dive under the surface, you will quickly learn that there is a whole unique world in the water. We will be learning about what animals live in these watery ecosystems and the adaptations they possess to be successful.
Planet - Aug 13 to Aug 17
Teams will be formed, clues will be deciphered, and creativity will be challenged in an effort to solve some of the Zoo’s biggest mysteries.
Reptiles & Amphibians - Aug 20 to Aug 24
The animal kingdom is full of mystery and so is this week's summer camp. Camper's will be the detectives in charge of uncovering and deciphering clues hidden throughout the Zoo.
Registration for the Summer 2018 Day Camp Sessions is now available. Please see documents below descriptions. Online payment options will be available late April, payments and registration can be sent in the mail or turned in at the front desk of the Zoo during business hours.
