Learn & Explore at the
New York State Zoo
During these 30 minute programs, students will gather in our classroom to learn about wildlife biology and ecology. They will also get to meet several of our education animals. Aside from allowing your students to explore the zoo at their own pace, we offer a variety of ways to enrich your experience while at the zoo; through an onsite program, a guided tour, a BioFact presentation, a meet & greet animal at the gate, or even a Butterfly House tour.
Our programs have been designed to meet New York State education standards. Most programs are geared toward elementary audiences. However, programs for older audiences can be arranged upon request. Programs can also be specifically designed to cater to curriculum needs and enhance classroom learning. Maximum of 30 students per program session please.
$6.75 /student or adult over 12
Teachers may opt to plan a full field trip to the NYS Zoo, which will include a program and all-day zoo admission.
Additional group rate applies for zoo admission: $4.50 per child, ages 4 to 12 and $6.75 for children/ adults over 12.
Looking for a zoo experience but can't come visit us? We can bring the zoo to you! This program option is available for schools, libraries, and most other groups. Choose your favorite animals from our education collection to come visit you! Snore & Roar
Have you ever wanted to spend the night in a zoo? Well, here is your chance! We allow groups to spend the night at the zoo as a very special way to enjoy the stars and the howling of the wolves. An overnight can be a great time for a service project and/or education program too.
Let us help your scouts earn badges! We are still building this section of our programming, and we'd love your requests and input. We can create a program just for you, or choose a program from our program offerings page and we'll add an extra activity to make it special for your group.
There are so many badges you can earn and journeys to take at the zoo! Some badges you can work on with us are the Brownies Bugs and Pets badges, Juniors Animal Habitats badge, or Seniors Voice for Animals badge.
A program for you at the zoo can help you earn your Bird Study, Environmental Science, Mammal Study, Nature, or Reptile and Amphibian Study badges. We can also help with Cub Scout Academics and Electives, like the Wildlife Conservation belt loop and pin.
Helping out at the zoo is a great way to be involved in our community! Talk with us about how your troop can provide service and what we can do for you in return. Please give us a minimum 2 weeks before scheduling a service project
Offerings are subject to change.
