The conservation and education messages of the
New York State Zoo are integrated with the institution’s mission to inspire
conservation and fascination with the rich heritage of New York’s native
wildlife and habitats, through interactive educational experiences and scientific
study.
The following programs use live-animal demonstrations,
biofacts, and hands-on activities to inspire appreciation and respect for
our natural world. Programs range from 30 minutes to 1 hour in duration.

Natures Nursery is a pre-K
series run here at the zoo.
Each Month we offer a different animal themed hour long education program
catering to those with children ages 2-5. Programs typically include an up-close
animal encounter, craft, and snack to accompany the themed activities.

This is a free program held in the Book Nook of
our Visitor's Center. Come enjoy a half hour of stories and a visit from

Boggle the Bobcats
They are as lazy as lynx without somthing
to do, so it's time to provide a little extra carnivorous excitement for
Shadow and Sinew. We'll make and hide delectable treast to tempt their feline
senses.

May 17- Breakfast
for the Bears
*yawn* It's been a nice, long winter
sleep for our three black bears, Fleur, Ronnie, and Roswell -- but Spring
is here and it's time to get them up and moving! So COme and join us as
we make them an extra special bagel breakfast that's sure to entice.

June 14- Wildly Wolverine
This voracious and intimidating, giant of the weasels is an opportunistic
carnivore always on the lookout for an extra tasty morsel. Join us as we
work to satisfy his gluttony and incite his curiosity.

May 31 – Birds of a Feather, Who's flocking
together?

It's a day devoted to birds in support of the Tug
Hill Tomorrow Land Trust Bird Quest! If it's got feathers it's open for discussion
-- from chickens to ducks, turkeys to vultures, hawks, owls and anything in
between.

June 28 – Bugs n' Butterflies

When the sun is a shining, the air warm and bright,
conditions are perfect for butterflies in flight. Join us on a venture into
the wondrous world of insects and exoskeletons.

Ever wondered
what it would be like to work just feet away from wild mountain lions, wolves,
black bears and eagles? Have you ever wanted to see and experience what goes
on behind-the-scenes? Well here's your chance to get a peek at true Zoo
life accompanying those who know it best, the keepers! Your honorary morning
as a keeper will let you see all that it takes to get the Zoo up and open
for the public as you take part in the cleaning, feeding, and shifting of
animals on exhibit.
So "come and get it!" - a taste of what
the career of a zookeeper is really like!
THis unique opportunity is availabe on the weekend to those ages 12
and up (so adults, you too can come and satisfy the 'kid curiosity' in you!)
