Sponsored by HSBC, The New York State Zoo is
proud to offer the New York State Zoo. The Zoo Mobile Brings
Education programs to you! If you are interested in more information or
would like to schedule a program, please call the Education Dept. at
755-0896.
Let the Zoo come to you! The Education Department can go on the road to provide fun, educational experiences for the public of all ages. Here is just a sample of the places we often visit:

We offer two outreach options: formal programs and “booths.”
Our formal programs, which are typically 30-45 minutes long, always include at least three live animal demonstrations.* The topics of these programs can vary from “Animal Groups” to “Ecosystems” to “Adaptations Across the Nations” and much more. Please refer to the link for “School Programs” to view a list of programs we regularly offer. Programs can also be designed to meet specific themes or curricular needs.
Our educational booths consist of 2-3 tables lined with interesting biological artifacts for people to see and touch! We have everything from skulls to pelts to owl pellets, all used to inspire an appreciation for the native animals of New York State.
And don’t forget the live animals!* We bring several animals to our booths, some of which can be viewed on the tables (like our salamanders) to others that are brought out periodically (like our barn owls).
Booths are great for events, such as half-day fairs, where people are free to visit the booth at their leisure.
The cost for outreach programs is dependent upon the distance we must travel from the Zoo.
In the greater Watertown area, outreaches are typically $60. Outreaches in St. Lawrence, Lewis, and Oswego Counties can range from $70 to $170.
Please call the Education Department at 315-755-0896 for more information or to book an outreach.
*The Education Department chooses from a collection of over 20 animals for each program based on their availability and relevance to the program’s topic. We often have to make our selections on the day of the program. Therefore, it is not always possible to make advanced arrangements for specific animals. However, if you have requests, we will try to make accommodations.
