Part of Mr. Fosters appeal strategy Tuesday was to note that the zoo was
the second most-attended attraction in Jefferson County. The zoo had 46,297
visitors in 2006; 53 percent came from outside the county.

Children have been able to "Become a Zookeeper" at the New York State Zoo
at Thompson Park for several years. Soon, children and adults will be able
to take part in the program every weekend. Under the new program anyone over
the age of 12 will be able to participate, and rather than being only one
saturday a month the new program will run from 8 am to 11 am fridays, saturdays,
and sundays by appointment, said Colleen Bernard the zoo education coordinator.

"Zoo-To-Do Fundraiser rakes in "57,000
for Thompson Park" November 7, 2007
More than 230 people attended the Zoo-To-Do event for the NY State Zoo at
Thompson Park. The 10th Annual reception featured more than 200 silent acution
items... The gala brought in more than $57,000 for the zoo's operations.
Those donations will make up about 10 percent of the zoo's budget. THis year's
even was much larger that previous events. In 23006, about 170 people attended
and $50,000 was collected for the zoo.
