Lowe’s Heroes have been hard at work at the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park.  Over the course of three days and with the hard work of twelve volunteers, the Heroes erected a roof at the Bobcat exhibit, painted fences, and trimmed walking trails.

Karen Cowles, Assistant Administrative Manager with Lowe’s, contacted the Zoo in hopes of assisting the Zoo with projects large and small.  The Lowe’s Heroes Team included volunteers from the Watertown, NY, store who have a love for their community and helping others.  Lowe’s Heroes website states “Our employees are committed to improving their communities, and they show their support by volunteering thousands of hours each year. Whether participating in community revitalization efforts after a disaster, conducting how-to clinics to help community members develop construction skills, helping out at K-12 schools or simply cleaning up local parks and beaches, Lowe’s employees are always there to lend a hand.”  The Lowes Heroes of Watertown are extraordinary examples of Lowe’s dedication to the community.

Lesley Clark, Chief Financial Officer of the Zoo, is thrilled with the hard work and dedication of the Lowes Hereos.  “The Lowes Heroes erected a lean-to style roof over our bobcat holding.  The roof will offer shade during the summer and will prevent snow build-up in the winter.  The Heroes also took on a large undertaking of trimming a main trail which will allow access to the exhibits for snow removal.”

All interests in receiving project assistance during 2016 from the Lowe’s Heroes, please contact Karen Cowles at 315-779-0059.
